VERSAILLES –A Ripley County-based medical device company is among 12 to advance in a competition aimed at finding new solutions to combat the opioid addiction crisis. Innovative Health Solutions in Versailles has received $200,000 in funding for advancing to the second phase of the Ohio Opioid Technology Challenge.
IHS has developed a device called the NSS-2 BRIDGE, which is placed behind the ear and helps treat the symptoms of opioid withdrawal. The device received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration last November.
The Ohio Opioid Technology Challenge is a three-phase competition designed to advance new ideas in the fight against drug abuse and addiction. The third and final phase, which began this month and will run through July 2019, seeks to enable winners from the second phase to develop and refine their solutions.
Organizers say the most promising solutions will receive prizes of $1 million or more. Those winners will be announced in August 2019. You can learn more about the challenge by clicking here.
